This client is an 85-year old gentleman who does custom woodworking with years and years of experience. He has been featured in major woodcraft publications for his attention to detail, but only as a amateur shop owner. He wanted to increase awareness of himself and ultimately create a brand -which is where I came in. I was hired to create a logo, a business name, and business cards. A website and webstore may be on the horizon and if so I’ll be sure to feature it here on this site!
The concept behind this logo was to do two separate things: The first being that I wanted the whole piece to feel as though it were an actual scroll pattern, and by that I mean something that could be cut in such a way so that no adhesive or nails would be required to hold it together. The second was to make use of an inlay in the cross-section of the wood. Mr. Schafer does all this work by hand, but his faith is something he values more than anything, so the imagery of the hands that form the “H” are not only representing the literal usage of ones hands, but also that of uplifted hands in an act of worship.
